Although Adrian is madly in love with his wife, Adrian is attracted to his wife`s best friend and begins an illegal affair with Nicole. Nicole is deeply in love with her best friend`s husband, who gives her the care and attention she seeks. She risks her lifelong friendship with Monica. Monica (Angel Locsin), who grew up with little love from her father and two brothers, realizes her true worth when she meets Adrian (Jericho Rosales). However, Monica and Adrian`s marriage is called into question as Adrian and Nicole`s (Maja Salvador) paths continue to cross, lighting a fire that will lead Monica to fight for her right as a legal wife. But he also realizes that his ex-wife is now a changed woman – Monica is wiser and exudes a strong and tougher attitude. Adrian does not know that Nicole, who used her son to cling to Adrian, managed to trick Monica into thinking that she and Adrian are in a relationship.

When Monica insists on cancelling, Adrian finally gives up the fight and decides to let her go. What Adrian didn`t expect was that his tearful goodbye to his great love could be the last word he would ever say, as he would have an accident on the way home. Will Monica`s instant freedom come at the expense of Adrian`s life, whom she still loves despite all the hardships that marred her marriage? After returning to her real family, Monica learns to love her real father and two brothers. Her father, Don Joaquin, loves Eloisa, forgives his wife and is kinder to her. Eloisa returns the favor wholeheartedly and learns to love and care for Joaquin. His feelings for Dante fade. However, it was abruptly cut due to the closure of ABS-CBN`s free-to-air stations following the National Telecommunications Commission`s cease and desist order due to the expiration of the franchise.
